Money for nothing and your chicken for free
I’ve always been a sucker for getting “something for nothing” and always relish finding a good deal or a great buy. The internet has obviously made that a lot easier and has created entire new businesses and industries. I know, that’s the biggest “duh” statement ever, but bear with me.
One of the most revolutionary changes is the way companies market to consumers using the internet. Advertisers quickly found the internet to be a very cost effective method of advertising and the early adopters found out that email was almost as effective as postal mail for virtually no cost.
Obviously, that got out of hand and resulted in the coining of a new term that we’ve all come to hate: SPAM. SPAM is, was, and forever will be bad, but some visionaries realized that although it was abused, email advertising, when used properly, is still a very cost effective medium.
They also figured out that people don’t mind opening junk mail if they could do it on their terms AND get paid for it.
Yep, you heard me. Get paid for it.
But first, a mini disclaimer. Since this is a new blog site for me (not my first, but my newest) I haven’t got my disclaimer up yet. But here’s a mini version: I promise that I will only recommend products to you that:
- I personally use and have been using for at least 90 days
- I personally purchased (if there’s a cost) the product as a regular consumer
- Includes a link for as good of a price (or better) than I paid
- That save me time, money, or both or generate money
Anyway….I’ve been using a program called “MyPoints” for over 4 years now and have recommended it to countless friends and family.
Here’s how it works:
- You sign up on their web page, completely free of charge to you
- You fill out a profile with your interests, hobbies, and categories you’d like to get email on
- On a regular basis (usually daily) MyPoints will send you one (or more) targeted offers
- 99% of the offers give you a few points just for reading the message
- All of the offers give you extra points for accepting the offer
As I mentioned, I’ve been using them for over 4 years and have redeemed my points for over $250 in awards. Reading each message only takes 20-30 seconds and some of the offers have intrigued me enough that I accepted them and gained additional points.
I always select gift cards as my reward (Red Lobster, Chili’s, Smokey Bones, Olive Garden, etc.) and I can tell you that the redemption process is effortless and quick. I have always received my gift card within one week of redemption. You can obviously use your restaurant gift cards to purchase chicken, for those of you obsessing about the relevancy of my title…
They also have a shopping portal that will net you additional points as well, but in all honesty I’ve never used it.
So there you have it, my first product recommendation. As promised, it will cost you nothing and will earn you additional money
If you are an existing member of MyPoints, I’d love to hear if you experience has been similar?
