Hey there and thanks for stopping by! I wish I had a tidy, concise, and focused explanation of my blog or myself, but…well, you’ll see.
First, the name. As any blogger will tell you, picking out a name (unless you’re a vanity blogger) is one of the hardest parts. Especially after you pick 2 or 3 awesome names and find out someone already thought of them. With over 60 million blogs out there, it’s quite the challenge.
I picked the name because my life, when viewed from a distance, reminds me of how I watch TV. Short attention span, intolerance for repetition, way too much content and variety, and little tolerance for advertising.
Yep, I’m every wife’s worst nightmare: I’m a channel surfer. I’m also a life surfer, so combine the terms and I’m “Surfin’ Dad.”
Like I said, over 60 million blogs out there, so cut me some slack on the name; http://www.blog.com was already taken!
As to “who” I am, well I’m a:
Christian - I don’t have much tolerance for organized religion, but I have great respect for those that do good things with no expectation of a reward. I’m not perfect, but guess what? Neither are you.
Husband - Married for over 14 years to a wonderful woman. She hates to shop, I hate watching sports on TV, it’s a match made in heaven.
Father - I am the nauseatingly proud father of 3 children. They are all more than I ever hoped for, and sometimes more than I ever wished for…..;)
IT Mid-level Manager - Yeah, I’m living la vida Dilbert. If sometimes Dilbert makes you weep uncontrollably instead of laugh, we probably share the same background.
Volunteer Police Officer - “What would you do for a living if money didn’t matter?” is a popular question. My answer is: be a cop. It is my vocational passion and the activity that helps keep my life in perspective.
Household CFO - If it’s free, it’s for me! I take care of bill paying and budgeting in our house. I’m not a cheapskate, but I take great pride in being more efficient. Finding the same level of quality, service, and convenience for less money makes my propeller spin.
I hope you enjoy my blog. In all honesty, if I can inspire you to do one good deed, save a buck, or be a better husband, father, or citizen, then I would consider this a success.
I’m also more of a “Muser” than a “Reporter”, so posts will sometimes be irregular in frequency.

I do most of blogging after “bedtime” and just publish the posts later. But, your point is well taken in that it never feels like there’s enough time to go around.
